The original boar this brooch was based on is known as the “Muntham Court Boar” and is part of the Worthing Museum and Gallery collection. It was found during excavations at Muntham Court Roman shrine during the 1960s, and dates from the 2nd-4th century. It was associated with a local religious cult.
